test-fire of a new tactical guided weapon, state media Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Thursday.

Kim “supervised and guided a test-fire of a new-type tactical guided weapon cond

The design indexes of the weapon, with advantages of “the p

It’s time high-tech and internet companies designed a reaso

onable salary system to motivate their employees to give full play to their creativity and pro

ductivity, instead of forcing the workers to work long hours without adequate remuneration.

Chinese internet firms should learn from the managerial experiences of their foreign counterparts such

as Google and Facebook to incentivize their staff if they want them to work overtime and improve their productivity.

The average leisure an average Chinese person enjoys is 2.27 h

Due to the “996” schedule in some high-tech and internet companies, the workers have even less leisure time, which affects not only t

heir daily life but also their health. Worse, many workers don’t even get paid for the extra work they do.

The capital will carry out supportive policies on finan

land and talent recruitment to attract companies and people engaged in high-end industries to settle down in the city, he added.

Furthermore, Beijing will guide districts to cultivate different industries to avoid repetition and overlap.

Beijing’s Haidian district focuses on high-tech development and innovation. It realized a GDP of 648 billi

on yuan ($96 billion) in 2018, eight times the average district’s level in the city. GDP per capita in the

district reached $28,000, or eight times the standard of moderately developed countries.

At present, the tertiary sector has become the biggest contributor to Haidian’s economy, whic

h now makes up around 90 percent of the total and is similar to levels in New York and Tokyo.

Innovative and capital-intensive industries such as information technology, finance and education provide

the bulk of Haidian’s GDP. The district has attracted several well-known domestic and overseas companies inclu

ding 31 unicorn enterprises — startups worth more than $1 billion — and 933 listed enterprises.

Before it, the biggest solid-fuel civilian rocket in China

was the Long March 11, with a length of 20.8 m, a diameter of 2 m and a liftoff weight of 58 tons.

Information previously published by CASIC said the rocket that will fly first is to carry six satellites.

While preparation for the Kuaizhou 11 mission is underway, designers at the Wuhan academy have begun to develop two n

ew solid-propellant rockets of bigger size and carrying capacity-Kuaizhou 16 and 21-said Hu, the rocket designer.

The Kuaizhou 16 will have a diameter of 3.5 meters and be able to place a 4-ton payload in low-Ear

Icebreaker returns home early after hitting iceberg

The Chinese icebreaker Xuelong, carrying the 349 members of China’s 35th research mission to Antarctica, returne

d to Shanghai safely on Tuesday, about a month earlier than originally scheduled due to a collision with an iceberg.

Despite the Jan 19 collision in the Amundsen Sea, the crew managed to carry out com

prehensive research at five stations, including Changcheng, Zhongshan and Taishan, aerial geop

hysical remote sensing observation in the southeast polar ice cap, and marine surveys in the Amundsen Sea.

“Our team obtained valuable data and samples on the expedition, and filled the scientific ga

“This positive momentum needs to be kept up,” he said.

“It is a major issue for all the people who live in China,” he said, noting that living in a better en

Guelar is glad to see that China is working both at home and abroad to promote environmental protection.

“I’m waiting for the two sessions, and I want to see how the princip

UK Prime Minister Theresa May has repeatedly rejected exte

Article 50 — the legal process under which an EU member state can leave — and refused to rule out a no-deal Brexit.

The UK Parliament is due to debate the divorce again on Wednesday when May is expected to update lawmakers on any pr

This weekend she will meet European Council President Donald Tusk on the margins of

the EU-League of Arab States Summit in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh.

Forward-looking measures have already been taken

by the Chinese monetary authority, earlier than other major central banks, based on the evaluation on macroeconomic conditions and the exter

nal environment. Policy fine-tuning will send positive signals to the market and support financial resilience, Zhang said.

This year, the remarkable change in tone from the world’s major central banks is shifting into a monet

ary easing cycle, and policies from the Chinese central bank are headed in the same direction, Zhang added.

A recent research note from Goldman Sachs forecast China’s credit growth to rise in January as commercial banks may be “si

gnificantly more aggressive than before” with encouragement from the easing policy. With the PBOC scheduled to

release more data this week, the trend may be reflected in faster growth of new yuan loans and the broad money supply.

Amid a good fall of snow, which Chinese traditionally believe promises a year of harvest and

prosperity, Chinese and United States top officials started two days of talks in Beijing on Thursday.

The post by the Sina Weibo blogger claimed that one of Zha

i’s papers published in an academic journal, was uploaded to CNKI and the similarity score for the 2,783-word article was 40.4 percent.

Another post by the same blogger claimed that Zhai’s doctoral graduation dissertation

could not be found in the CNKI database, while all the graduation dissertations written by his classmates could be found there.

The posts stirred a heated debate among netizens, with many saying academic misconduct

was unfair to students who had worked hard to obtain a degree. They have called for strict rules to curb such behavior.

“For someone with a PhD, how could he not know what the CNKI is? And how could he have never used it for referencing academic works?” one netizen wrote.

“I was only joking when I said that I did not know what CNKI was,” Zhai wrote in response

to the post. “Will anyone believe me if I said that I do not know one plus one equals two?”

Zhai’s studio said on Friday that he obtained a PhD from the Beijing Film Academ

y in June, and all his academic papers and his dissertation were written by him under the guidance of supervisors.

He has met all graduation requirements from the academy and is willing to be held responsible for any academic misconduct, the studio said.

Peking University declined to comment when contacted by China Daily on Monday.
